The Pediatric Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery service provides inpatient and
outpatient care for infants and children with craniofacial disorders.
We provide comprehensive treatment for patients with:
- abnormal jaw growth
- cleft lip and palate
- congenital craniofacial anomalies
- dental anomalies
- facial trauma
- head and neck tumors
- juvenile idiopathic arthritis of the TMJ
- salivary gland pathology
- sleep apnea
We work closely with other medical and dental services to provide timely and
comprehensive care at all stages of childhood development. This includes close
collaboration with our colleagues in neonatology, pediatrics, genetics, speech,
pediatric otolaryngology, orthodontics, and pediatric dentists. Prenatal
evaluation and counseling, as well as postnatal diagnostic assessments, are
provided to patients and expecting parents. Reconstructive surgery offered for
these deformities incorporates microsurgical techniques, computer simulation and
planning, surgical navigation, and CAD/CAM templating. We utilize minimally
invasive surgical techniques including sialoendoscopy for salivary gland
stones (sialolithiasis) and radioiodine-induced salivary duct stenosis, and TMJ
arthrocentesis or arthroscopy for temporomandibular joint
disorders.
